Gigabyte finally unveils its RTX 3070 graphics cards.

GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 3070 Series

The manufacturer today announced two SKUs based on Ampere GA104 GPU: the RTX 3070 GAMING OC and RTX 3070 EAGLE OC. Both cards feature 5888 CUDA cores and 8GB of non-X GDDR6 memory. The GPU clock speeds have not been confirmed by Gigabyte, but it seems obvious that both cards will feature factory-overclocking (hence the OC suffix).

The GAMING OC is a triple-fan and 2.25-slot thick cooler design The card features a custom board design with a 6-pin and an 8-pin power connector (reference design only comes with one 8-pin).

The card measures 28.6 cm in length and 11.cm in width. Unlike the RTX 3080 GAMING series, the cooler is more rectangular and all three fans are of the same size (80mm). For comparison, the RTX 3080 GAMING cards have 1x80mm + 2x90mm fans.

There is also a change to display connector configuration. The RTX 3080 GAMING featured three DisplayPorts 1.4a, while the RTX 3070 only has two. A number of HDMI 2.1 ports has unchanged and we are still getting two.

The PCB is much shorter than a regular xx70 series card. It is also worth noting that the power connectors appear to be installed the same way RTX 3080 GAMING connectors are – on cable extenders.

GIGABYTE RTX 3070 EAGLE

The RTX 3070 Eagle OC has the same design principle as GAMING: two 90mm fans were replaced with two 80mm fans, thus all three fans on the RTX 3070 EAGLE are the same size: 80mm.

The cards measure 28.2 cm in length, which means it is 4cm shorter than RTX 3080 model.

The key difference between GAMING and EAGLE series is the thickness of the cooler. While the GAMING model requires 2.2-slots (51mm), the EAGLE is a pure dual-slot design (41mm):

NVIDIA announced that GeForce RTX 3070 will launch on October 15th. The card has an MSRP of 499 USD, but it is unclear how much GIGABYTE’s EAGLE and GAMING cards will cost.
